LIGHTING FOR B/W 16MM MOTION PICTURE FILM
WITH MONO NO AWARE
In this intensive one-day workshop, participants will learn lighting techniques for 16mm B/W film. Hands-on lighting set-ups will demonstrate safe and proper use of light equipment specifically used for making independent and low-budget narratives in NYC. The workshop will also focus on lighting vocabulary, how to look at light, the role of the gaffer and key grip on set, how to use a digital light meter, and how to light for camera blocking. Participants will work in small groups to create a “look” for one scene to be shot on 16mm during the workshop. We’ll hand-process the test footage for immediate results. The group reel will be presented after the conclusion of the course at our screening party.
