These classes are typically 6-8 weeks long and meet one evening or weekend day per week. These are great if you are looking to take a deep dive into darkroom processes. We generally offer these in Spring, Fall, and Winter.

This 4 week course will teach you how to make color darkroom prints on your own, by taking your own color negatives and creating one of a kind, full color prints in a traditional hand printing color darkroom. We will cover all the basics of color darkroom printing, including contact sheets, photograms, and beginner to intermediate printing techniques.
Prerequisites: Black & White darkroom knowledge. You must have some experience printing in a b&w darkroom. If you have never done this before, you can take any of our intro to black $ white darkroom classes prior to taking this class.
What to bring: Your color negatives. We will be making color darkroom prints from your negatives in this class. We will go over any additional materials to bring in class week to week.
What is included?
All chemistry and paper is included in this course rate. You will also receive a 20% discount for booking any hourly time in our darkroom for the duration of the course.

This 6 week course will teach you all the basics of film and darkroom basics from start to finish. Many of these techniques were developed over 100 years ago, and are still used in darkrooms around the world. After taking this lesson, you will be able to confidently work in a black & white darkroom and see your creative vision come to life in physical photographic form. You will cover shooting and camera basics, film processing, and beginner and intermediate darkroom printing techniques.
Prerequisites: None. This is a novice course for beginners.
What to bring: Your film camera. You will need it for your first class of shooting film and camera basics.
What is included?
All chemistry is included in this course rate. You will also receive Partial Membership at Gowanus Darkroom for the duration of the course, to use to complete your assignments for class. Throughout the duration of the class we will discuss additional materials to purchase week to week.
