This 6 week course will teach you all the basics of working in a traditional black and white wet darkroom, complete with chemicals and red lights. Many of these techniques were developed over 100 years ago, and are still used in darkrooms around the world. After taking this lesson, you will be able to confidently work in a black & white darkroom and see your creative vision come to life in physical photographic form.

What is included?
All chemistry is included in this course rate. You will also receive partial membership at Gowanus Darkroom for the duration of the course (over $600 value). Throughout the duration of the class we will discuss additional materials to purchase week to week.

Tuesdays, 6PM - 9PM
In this class we will cover black and white film developing and negative viewing, making contact sheets and printing in a black and white darkroom. You’ll walk away from class with a basic understanding of how to get a beautiful print using traditional photographic techniques, taking home anything you make.
